I have been a real estate agent since 1986, working part time in the evenings and weekends. I was a region training manager for a large food company for over 30 years. My broker/partner has been in the real estate business in the East Bay Area since 1978 specializing in residential and foreclosure sales.
I moved to Oakley in 2000 and commuted to my corporate job for 5 years. I got tired of commuting, tired of the big company life. I quit my corporate job and started full time real estate in 2005. I opened my office in Bethel Island in 2005. Our business grew and we moved to a larger location in Antioch in 2010. My business specialized in REO - bank owned sales, working in primarily in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties with some listings in Solano, Yolo, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Cruz Counties. We experienced the distress homeowners had when they lost their home to foreclosure. And many of those homeowners never tried to sell their home or work with their lender to save their mortgage. They didn't know what to do or where to go. We started working with distressed homeowners in 2011 helping them to understand the alternatives to foreclosure. These homeowners do have options and I help them to understand what they are. This has added more dimension to my work and more personal satisfaction. I now work where I live, doing a job I love and, best of all - not much of a commute!
My partner and I have 3 daughters. All three girls worked in real estate with us for a while - then moved on to develop their own careers. One is now in Mortgage Banking. One founded her own Company working with model homes. The third trained and worked as a Paramedic for over 10 years, worked for us for a couple years and now trains EMTs and Paramedics. Seven grandchildren from 12 to 26 keep us busy and provide plenty of entertainment. It's great watching them grow up! And, believe it or not - we now have two GREAT grandchildren!
I became active in the Bethel Island Lions Club and Bethel Island Chamber of Commerce because I wanted to become involved with my community. I have served as President for the Lions Club and have been Vice President of the Bethel Island Chamber of Commerce and am now the President of the Chamber. I am also a member of the San Joaquin Yacht Club which raises money for Meals on Wheels through community involved events. No, I don't own a 'yacht', but I value all time spent on the water and in water-related activities.
I am a REALTOR which means I belong to my local real estate board - DAR - Delta Association of Realtors, CAR - California Association of Realtors and NAR - National Association of Realtors. I am E-Pro certified which is a designation that certifies me as an Internet Professional. I have been certified in REO through 5 platforms and extensive courses. I am a Certified Distressed Property Expert trained to help homeowners in distress. These courses develop my skills as a real estate professional and insure my Sellers that I'm not just 'another agent' - I'm serious about the business.
Being considered a professional is important to me. Being a REALTOR is my life's work and I take pride in doing it well.
